About Me
Hi, I'm Chu Yuan, a Year 1 undergraduate at NUS, pursuing a degree in Life Science with a Second Major in Psychology. While my passion is in the healthcare industry, and giving back to the community through my actions, my insatiable curiosity extends to the realms of machine learning and finance as well!

EXPERIENCE
Rotaract Club of Singapore (Aug 21- Present)
International Service Director

On top of serving local and international communities, the Rotaract Club of Singapore (RACSG) represents Singapore as a point of contact for intercultural exchanges with Rotaract Clubs from all around the world both in Asia & Western Countries.
As the International Service Director of RACSG, I am in charge of getting our club members to recognise & appreciate cultural differences of communities from all over the world in terms of values, beliefs & customs. I am the main point of contact for RACSG for liaising with external organisations and relevant Rotaract Clubs, to organise cultural exchange projects.

Rotary Club of Singapore (Aug 21- Present)
Project Director (Project Kamleang)
​
Project Kamleang is an OCIP project that aims to empower girls in Siem Reap, Cambodia to protect themselves from sex trafficking. Providing critical vocational skills such as English literacy, and first aid allows girls to pursue education & seek employment without falling prey to traffickers. This project is also a precursor to the larger Rotary Global Grant project taking place in Cambodia next year, where we will collaborate with other Rotaract Clubs in Singapore.
• Conducted a large scale recruitment process to select an organising committee of 23 members
• Lead the organising team to carry out 10 sessions of lessons over a span of 5 weeks
• Collaborate with local NGOs and Rotaract clubs to conduct needs analysis over 4 months

Part of the Ministry of Health's Island-wide vaccination project, the Bukit Timah Vaccination Center handles loads of up to 1,900 patients each day.
• Crowd management and immediate response to any medical contingencies
• Patient management through GPConnect system
• Identified possible bottlenecks in the system and implemented solutions both on the ground and in the long term for up-scaling of maximum load
• Worked with Senior and Corporate Management to ensure logistic and manpower needs are successfully met to handle human traffic

Novel two & three dimensional nanomaterials as high capacitance anodes for Lithium-ion batteries (Apr 15 - May 16)
- Research project where I synthesized nanocomposite structures as anode material to increase battery capacitance.
- Awarded Merit award at the Singapore Science and Engineering Fair.
